About the Artist

Aloha. The creation of Spirit of the Islands Photography stems from my love of tropical islands, especially the Hawaiian Islands. It is a product of my desire to share the beauty of the islands with others. From the time of my first visit to Hawai’i, I knew I had found the ultimate inspiration for my work as an artist.

My name is Vincent Villalobos, I am the principle photographer at Spirit of the Islands Photography. Even from the beginning, my view of Hawai’i has been one of reverence for the Islands, and for all their majesty. I am in awe of their beauty. Each time I’m on a shoot there, I walk the land with a very deep sense of gratitude, for it is like no other place on earth. I am grateful that mankind has been given the opportunity to be the stewards of such a beautiful spot on this small planet.

My photography is also an attempt to preserve the beauty of the islands, so that I might share it with the world. If you’ve ever been to a tropical island, you've experienced the magic. One look at the images captured here, can instantly transport you to a memory you have locked somewhere within you. If you haven’t been to the tropics, you will be able to browse through my gallery of images, and imagine what it would be like to be there, breathing in the sweet floral scents, carried on the warm trade winds. You will certainly be inspired as to where you want to visit on your next vacation.

What better way to capture a moment in time than on film? That which is present today, can be swept away in an instant in the wake of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, volcanic eruption, etc. Photography allows me to freeze the beauty of a location for someone who may never have the opportunity to see it in person.

As a steward of this planet, I feel compelled to do my part to help preserve the earth, whatever that may be. Obviously, we all have varying degrees of commitment to this belief, (as time allows and conscience dictates). Whether you are committed to recycling, picking up a piece of trash when you see it, or volunteering your time, YOU can make a difference.

With the help of the internet, you can even donate land for FREE, simply by clicking on the Rainforest Site and Ecology Fund links at the bottom of this page or, on our Favorite Links Page. It will only take a very few minutes of your time, and you will feel good about having done it! Please do your part today, and help preserve our precious Rainforests, and open spaces before they're only a memory. It’s a heritage our planet cannot afford to lose.

Mahalo,

Vincent

“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life, the air and the light, which vary continually…for me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere that gives subjects their true value.”
