Tahoe (Da-ow)

Under Construction.......

South Lake Tahoe, a spiritually inspiring and sacred ceremonial site, was a summer gathering place for centuries by three tribes of the Washo Indians. The Washoes named the area "Da-ow-a-ga," or "edge of the Lake." Early explorers, however, unfamiliar with the native tongue, misinterpreted the phrase as "Tahoe." The word "Da-ow", has also been interpreted as meaning "much water". Much water is a good way to describe this magical spot, as the lake plummets to chilly depths of over 1,600 ft.

Please take a moment to browse through some of my favorite shots of what may quite possibly be, the most beautiful alpine lake in the world.
