Is Photography Art?

The question has often been asked is Photography Art? Does Photography possess the elements necessary to be deemed Art? It may retain artistic qualities, but is it REALLY Art? I have heard others refer to Photography as a craft and not a true art form.
I believe if you look upon a media, (whatever the form), that has required a person to manipulate and shape that image into the final product that you see before you, if you are moved by what you see from somewhere deep inside you, if the image is lovely and pleasing to the eye, if this image provides for you a respite, however brief, from your routine, if your emotions are stirred with the thought of experiencing and literally enveloping yourself in the setting of the image, then I believe that you can call it Art.
The purpose of art is to provide the observer with a vision of the subject through the eye of the artist, and to give a new perspective to the viewer.
I invite you to share my vision of the islands.
